A quick description of the smart valve that controls all water to the home as well as the iron and hydrogen sulfide filter. Guests shouldn't ever need to mess with either of these, but abnormally high water usage will cause the smart valve to shut off. You can manually override it using these instructions. The water filter does backflush at least 1 time per week at 2am every Monday. If you hear water draining in the middle of the night, this is normal.
A quick video on how to operate the thermostats and how the temperature settings differ from forced air heating. Radiant floor heating is very efficient, but it can take a while during winter months to heat the floor material to the temperature set. We try to set it to a comfortable temperature before your arrival, but please be patient if you would prefer a warmer temp. Cranking it will not make it get hot faster, and trust us that 70 degrees will feel hot unless it is negative temperatures outside. The upper floors of the cabin will naturally be warmer due to heat rising and usually require a lower setting than the concrete slab main floor.
Our cabin utilizes an August Smart Lock. Entry can be gained by using the August App, or via the pin pad under the Ring Doorbell camera. Your 4 digit pin will open the door after typing in your pin and then hitting the RED August Lock symbol. The door can be relocked manually from the inside by simply turning the silver cylinder, or when you leave by simply hitting the RED August Lock symbol. No need to enter your pin to lock the door using the pin-pad.
Our cabin is equipped with a septic alarm. It will emit a high-frequency beep if the septic system gets to 80% full. DO NOT be alarmed (no pun intended). This just means that either a lot of people were taking showers or you were running a lot of water within a short amount of time. For example (multiple showers, running the dishwasher, and running the washing machine simultaneously). The septic alarm can be shut off by hitting the button on the septic alarm box outside, or by flipping the septic breaker behind the corner shelving unit near the front entry. If you need to do this it can come on again in a short amount of time and you will just need to resilience. This means it's time to cut back on water usage for a while. The house is equipped with a high-efficiency system and will clear itself quickly, but that means no more water going into it for a few hours.
The outdoor fireplace is equipped with a manual timer switch. This is to prevent users from accidentally leaving it on for an extended period of time since fire spread is a concern in the mountains. Once turned to at least a 10min interval, the switch can be turned back to zero, or just left to run out of time.
Our twin mattress over-queen mattress bunk beds are custom-made and were designed for kids to be able to make forts. There is no exterior ladder and the steps integrated against the wall were designed to be the entrance and exit points of the bunk beds.
Getting the back doors to lock properly can be a little bit confusing. This video shows an easy trick to get the doors to lock by first making sure that the stationary door is pulled all the way towards the closing door. Then locking is easy.
